The 238th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America was celebrated at the Aegean Free Zone, led by U.S. Ambassador Francis Ricciardone.
The reception, co-hosted by ESBAS Chairwoman Mary Tuncer took place in the backyard of Space Camp Türkiye and was also attended by the wife of the U.S. Ambassador, Marie Ricciardone, U.S. representatives and prominent Turkish members of the local community.
The Ricciardones, Mrs. Tuncer and ESBAS CEO (Dr.) Faruk Güler welcomed the guests to the reception, which officially began with the Turkish and American national anthems. Mrs. Tuncer then gave a speech expressing her pleasure to be the host of the Independence Day celebrations for the 9th time.
In his speech, Ambassador Ricciardone remarked about the solid relations between Türkiye and the United States. “We are happy to see both countries collaborating as close allies. Izmir holds a very special place in Turkish – American bilateral relations in terms of friendship and commerce. Many American companies are currently operating and expanding their businesses in Izmir. I hope such operations continue and increase.”
