The Aegean Free Zone closed the year with a trade volume of $4.2 billion USD and employment of 20.500 people. Having operationalized the 300 thousand m2 expansion area for new investments in 2019, the Aegean Free Zone Development and Operating Co. (ESBAŞ) targets 5 percent growth in 2020.
ESBAŞ CEO Dr. Faruk Güler welcomed the members of Izmir Media Platform. Giving the latest updates about the ongoing works and activities of ESBAŞ as well as the latest developments about the Aegean Free Zone, Guler said, “Attracting high value added investments, which will generate further employment, ensure transfer of high technology and increase the export rate, has always been of utmost importance for ESBAŞ since the very first day of its establishment. We will continue to maintain our marketing activities in this direction.” Guler also said that a number of companies operating in the Aegean Free Zone have already made additional investments in 2019 to increase their capacities and that these investments will be operationalized in 2020. Guler added, “We expect to see a 5 percent growth in the total trade volume of the Aegean Free Zone in 2020 after investments by the new software and IT companies in the Zone.”
