ESBAS Announces New CEO

It is with great pleasure that I announce today the appointment of Dr. Faruk Guler as CEO of ESBAS, the Aegean Free Zone Development and Operating Company.

Dr. Guler comes to us from Abalioglu Holding Inc. in Denizli, where he worked for 14 years and served as CEO and a Member of the Board for the past 11 years.  During his tenure, Abalioglu Holding’s revenue increased from $255 million to over $1.8 billion USD, while the workforce grew from 1,360 to 2,300 as a result of both national and international investments.

Dr. Guler holds BS, MS and PhD degrees in Chemistry from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara.

He began his career as a researcher first for the Middle East Technical University and then for the Scientific and Research Council of Türkiye.  Dr. Guler joined research groups at Exeter University in the U.K. and at Alberta University in CANADA.  He also lectured for three years in the Middle East Technical Universities after receiving his PhD degree. He joined the private sector as the Section Manager for Research and Development for KORDSA, Inc. of Sabanci Holding.

Next Dr. Guler spent ten years in Indonesia and Thailand as a high level manager with Branta Mulia Tire Cord Inc. established by the technology of Goodyear – USA.  He returned to Türkiye in 1996 as the General Manager of CBS Paint and Chemical Inc.

He has served on numerous Boards including KalDer, the Turkish Society for Quality Management.  Dr. Guler is comfortable in both domestic and international business settings with extensive experience in public relations, financial systems and strategic planning.  He is known for creating an atmosphere for innovation and his excellent management skills wherever he has worked.

Dr. Guler is from Antalya and is married with two grown children.     

We are proud to have found such an accomplished and experienced executive to lead ESBAS in the coming years.
