ESBAS CHILD CARE CENTER ORGANIZES 7TH ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR
The seventh annual science fair organized by kids aged 4-6 and their teachers, took place at the ESBAS Child Care Center on Wednesday, Feb.19. Students, teachers and parents from Aegean Free Zone user companies showed a remarkable interest in the fair.
Children exhibited their experiments and projects they prepared individually or as a group and presented the details of their projects to the visitors. One of the most interesting displays was a project designed by kids in the 5-6 age group entitled “Myths – Masks and Historical Artifacts.” The project was prepared on an interactive whiteboard as part of the GEMS (Great Explorations in Math and Science) program. The GEMS program engages students in experience and experimentation to explore science and math, and combines it with art, creative drama and 3-D, making learning more fun and enjoyable.
The ESBAS Child Care Center aims to lay the initial groundwork of scientific-thinking methods by motivating kids towards math and science through fun activities in the GEMS program. Children explore the importance of accessing knowledge at young ages, and experiencing the transition of knowledge from tangible to intangible. The subject of “Myths – Masks and Historical Artifacts” was selected among many others through the votes of 5-6 year-old kids. The program consisted of four stages that comprised of different subjects. All children actively participated in each stage of the program.
Counselors from Space Camp Türkiye, one of only three space camps in the world and located in the Aegean Free Zone, had lively discussions with the kids about planets, space shuttles and robots.
