Dutch company Fokker Elmo expands their investment by 8,000 m2 to provide manufactured parts to prominent aviation companies AgustaWest, Airbus, Boeing and Lockheed Martin
Established with an investment of 6 million USD for production of high-tech cabling systems for aerospace and defense industries, Fokker Elmo’s supplementary facilities officially opened its new operations in a ceremony attended by President of Fokker Elmo, Tim Hayter, as well as General Manager of Fokker Elmo Türkiye, Mischa Baert and many guests.
In a statement to the press before the opening ceremony, President Hayter remarked that Fokker Elmo is to augment production with the new 8,000 m2 facility.
SPECIALIST IN AIRCRAFT CABLING
Tim Hayter noted that the new factory is expected to double the amount of their production, which currently stands at 1,000 cable harnesses a month. “We have been manufacturing high technology cables in Türkiye since 2008. We produced over 36,000 advanced technology cable harnesses, which are utilized in both civil aviation and defense industries. Our factory was no longer able to address the increasing volume of business. Therefore we built this state of the art factory of 8,000 m2 to fit our purposes,” Hayter said.
Hayter added that 275 well-trained staff are employed at the factory, which is aimed to go up to 400 as the production increases.
25 YEARS IN TURKISH MARKET
Citing Fokker Elmo`s contributions to the aviation and defense industries in Türkiye, Time Hayter noted “our relations with Türkiye go back 25 years, during which time we observed the boost in Türkiye’s desire to grow and develop. The Turkish aviation industry also has immense aspirations and we want to be a part of this industry. For this reason, we want to increase our investments and operations in Türkiye. Overall, Türkiye is a magnificent place.”
General Manager Baert remarked that the aviation industry is very vibrant in Türkiye and added that new projects like produce landing gears for aircrafts may come up in the future.
Fokker Elmo Sales and Marketing Vice President Adriaan Leyte stated that they have invested up to 20 million dollars in Türkiye since 2008 and they are extremely happy with their investment at the Aegean Free Zone.
