Izmir Governor Mustafa Toprak visited the Aegean Free Zone on April 28 and noted that ESBAS and the Aegean Free Zone are major pillars of the city of Izmir that also provide significant contribution to the employment in the Aegean region.
Governor Toprak was welcomed by CEO Dr. Faruk Guler and members of the executive board at the ESBAS Technology Center. District Governor of Gaziemir, Serafettin Tug as well as the Aegean Free Zone Regional Manager Senay Satoglu and other officials were also present. The governor and his delegation later visited Cevher, manufacturer of alloy wheels, before attending the Provincial Employment and Vocational Education Boards meeting.
Chief Executive Officer Dr. Faruk Guler updated Governor Toprak on the overall status of ESBAS and the Aegean Free Zone, adding that the Zone has reached an occupancy rate of 98% with the current operating companies Dr. Guler emphasized the ongoing efforts to integrate the 500-donum (123.5 acres) area within the Aegean Free Zone. Guler also noted that the Aegean Free Zone would attain an additional employment of around 6,000 people if the design and infrastructure work is achieved as planned.
Governor Toprak stated he would do everything within his power and authority to assist in making the project materialize.
